Ten Years

(John McGie/Jon Lundquist)

TEN YEARS

How long has it been
Since you’ve been long gone
There isn’t a day
That I want you to stay here
I stay away
From our favorite places still
I won’t cry
I’ll just say goodbye

Ten years
Of my life without you
To me as your wife
I doubt you
Ever had to dream
Like I do
Because of you
I say goodbye

I look in the mirror
And I see our faces younger
With the hope
Of a lifetime or together
We saw the world
Through each other’s eyes blinded
By life
I’ll just say goodbye

As fast as lightning
My perfect life ends
You pulled the plug
And pushed me out
What was I thinking?
You were my everything
And so that means nothing
I gave my heart
That’s not too smart
Let me take it from you
We’re through
